Commodore’s hardware devices, like our services, are being designed to meet a wide variety of consumer needs. Our premium range of Gravel™ consumer electronics, now coming to market, offers the ultimate in versatility, mobility and quality. With seamless WiFi access to CommodoreWorld™ at the touch of a button and a host of other cutting-edge design features, the Gravel™ devices represent the state of the art in personalized media entertainment. For customers with fairly straightforward entertainment requirements, we also offer a range of entry-level products (such as MP3 players) that are highly price-competitive.
Here’s a glimpse of the types of products that are available now or coming soon.
In Pocket
The Commodore Gravel In Pocket player attracted great interest when launched at the IFA Berlin consumer electronics fair in September. That’s not surprising. This sleek audiovisual player combines small dimensions with giant capabilities, including direct WiFi access to a world of entertainment – Video On Demand with subtitle support, Replay TV, On Demand Radio, streaming music and much more – via the CommodoreWorld™ button.
Clever design has made it possible to deliver a big 2.8” TFT screen in a package that fits in the palm of your hand. With an astonishing 16.7 million colors and 24 frames per second, the display offers full-motion quality and resolution in a form you can take with you wherever you go. HiFi stereo speakers deliver perfect sound. A user-friendly interface and well-positioned controls (reminiscent of the classic Commodore joystick) are other welcome features.
The Gravel™ In Pocket plays all major file formats for video (DivX, XviD, WMV), music (MP3, WMA, WAV) and photos (JPEG, BMG, GIF). It’s available with either 1 GB or 2GB internal flash memory, expandable via the SD card slot to a maximum of 6 GB. Like all Commodore Gravel™ devices, it’s equipped with full Digital Rights Management support (DRM) to allow safe and legal download of digital media content from CommodoreWorld™.
Personal and Portable
We’re currently working on the development of slightly larger audiovisual players – the Gravel™ ‘Personal’ and ‘Portable’ players – which will be equipped with a hard disk and additional capabilities. Watch this space for more news on these products.
In Home
The Gravel™ In Home media box is a unique home entertainment centre that provides direct access to the full CommodoreWorld™ entertainment catalog and delivers this content straight to your TV. Enjoy Video On Demand, Replay TV, streaming music services or games in the comfort of your living room – or wherever else you want to relax at home. Store your home videos and digital photos on the 80 GB internal hard disk and view them on your TV with your family and friends. The single-jog remote control is a breeze to use and the screen interface is extremely user friendly (you’ll find the same design on all Gravel products, which makes switching from home-based to mobile players even easier).
In Car
Commodore is currently developing the Gravel™ In Car. This ingenious device is both a navigation system and a multimedia player equipped for downloading, storing and playing music, videos and games. And, of course, this powerful multitasker will offer direct access to CommodoreWorld™.
In Public
Our Media Tower, created for high-traffic public areas such as airports and shopping malls, is a user-friendly kiosk providing direct access to CommodoreWorld™. Any customer with a mobile phone or portable player that has the appropriate functionality can walk up and download safe and legal digital media such as music tracks, ring tones, video clips, movies, wallpapers and games. An easy-to-navigate interface and rapid digital transfer via USB, WAP or Bluetooth ensures customers are on their way again in no time.
Gaming
Commodore Gaming, a strategic partnership between Commodore International Corporation and The Content Factory, provides a wide range of game products and services. Products due for release soon include a new generation of the Commodore 64 joystick, which adds game download functionality to the features that made its predecessor famous (direct connectability to TV and PC). Other products in the pipeline include game consoles for use with mobile phones.
